How to join IAF through AFCAT Entry and NCC Special Entry?

The Indian Airforce (IAF) has officially come into being on 8th October 1932. Its first ac flight has been introduced on 1st April 1933. Different jobs in IAF: Exams and eligibility criteria

IAF, UPSC, and SSC conduct various examinations to recruit the right candidates for the right posts. Here is an overview of some significant exams that you have to qualify for getting jobs in IAF.
Combined Defence Service Examination (CDSE)

UPSC conducts the CDS exam every year for IAF recruitment recruiting candidates for various academies including the Indian Air Force. For joining the IAF, the candidates must be male and unmarried/single. Only Indian citizens are allowed to apply for the exam.

➔ Age Limit:20 to 24 years (at the time of commencement of course)
➔ Education Qualification

1. Graduate (3-years’ course) in any discipline from a recognized university with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level/ BE/ BTech (4 years’ course) Or, 2. Students from the final year/semester can also apply if they are able to produce the certificate issued by the University within the stipulated time in the advertisement.

Advertisement is released in the months of November and August.

NCC Special Entry for men and women

Candidates can apply through NCC Special Entry. Candidates need to be Indian citizens to apply through NCC Special Entry. As an Air Wining Senior Division holder of the National Cadet Corps, candidates are allowed to apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force. Both men and women are eligible to apply. Candidates have to be single/unmarried to apply for the exam.

➔ Age Limit: 20 to 24 years (at the time of commencement of course). The upper age limit for candidates with current and valid Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is exempted up to 26 years (at the time of commencement of course).
➔ Education Qualification

1. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in each Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.
2. Graduate (3-years’ course) in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
Or,
3. BE/BTech (4-years’ course) from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Or,
4. Candidates who have cleared Section A & B of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
5. Final year/semester students are also eligible to apply if they have no backlogs at the time of AFSB Testing and can produce the certificate issued by the University within the stipulated time in the advertisement.
6. NCC Air Wining Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate and its validity would be two years before the date of advertisement.

Advertisement is released in the months of June and December.

AFCAT Entry for men and women

Candidates can apply through AFCAT for the Short Service Commission in the Flying Branch. Short Service Commission in Flying Branch is for 14 years with no further postponement. Both men and women Indian citizens with single marital status can apply.

➔ Age Limit: 20 to 24 years (at the time of commencement of course). The upper age limit for candidates with current and valid Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is exempted up to 26 years (at the time of commencement of course).
